Trading Terms & Conditions

BUILDING SIZES

Building sizes are approximate, nominal imperial and should be used as a rough guide only. Please contact us for clarification of specification, or a floor plan for accurate dimensions. Please Note - all buildings have a roof overhang which needs to be taken into account, in terms of proximity to boundary walls, fences, gates, hedging and other buildings. 

TIMBER SPECIFICATIONS

Timber is a natural product which is subjected to different environmental conditions, i.e. movement, colour variation, shrinkage, expansion, warping & splits.  We cannot accept any responsibility for these changes. All summerhouses are supplied with wood doors and windows which are slightly darker than cladding in appearance.

BUILDING SPECIFICATIONS

Except where stated otherwise, all buildings are supplied with a floor, 3mm thick Horticultural Glass, Trims, Fixings & Standard Mineral Felt.   Extra Heavy Duty Workshops, Kernow & Somerset Summerhouses are supplied with Premium Mineral Felt.  Playhouse windows fitted with Safety Acrylic/Perspex.

PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS

Product specifications & prices were correct at time of print.  Do not assume all buildings are produced in the same way as different sizes can affect the manufacture. The position of Floor Runners can also vary and should not be assumed to be the same as models photographed, design or shown on other buildings. If this is important to you then please contact us before the building is ordered/supplied. In line with our programme of continued product development we reserve the right to make minor modifications to the product or specification, without prior notice.  

TREATMENT/WOOD PROTECTOR

All buildings are supplied un-treated unless otherwise stated.  The building will need to be treated annually with a Solvent based wood protector.  We offer a range of 7 different colours. The Web Site and Catalogue illustrate our range of colours but these should be used as a rough guide only. We can provide colour swatches for better accuracy colour matching on request. All external walls, both sides of floor and all/any opening components are treated if treatment is requested. See page 90 for further information including 7 colour choices.

GUARANTEES

We guarantee the building for a full 12 months, provided it has been correctly erected by the customer.  Please note this guarantee does not cover ex-display buildings which are sold as seen. Please remember the weather conditions affect shrinkage/expansion of the timber and you may find that doors may be tight/stiff to open during particular wet weather.   Adverse weather conditions may detach roofing felt or cause other extra-ordinary damage to your building which can only be deemed an “Act of God”. We recommend you check if your building is covered by your household insurance in case of storm damage etc. The roof must not be stood on. Your guarantee could be invalid if 1. Extensions, additions or modifications in any way have taken place since the supply of the building by parties other than Shed Scene, 2. Suspension of items from the roof of any given building, 3. Unbalanced/overloading to one or more sides of the building, 4. Any attempted repair/replacement to the building carried out by anyone other than Scene Shed.

DELIVERY

We will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery date and approximate time when your goods will be delivered. If you are not at home we can leave the goods for you at a pre-arranged position within your property. We cannot be held responsible for the security of the items whilst there is no one available to sign for delivery. Please ensure clear access to the site.   If there are any access issues we need to know this at time of placing an order. Please bear in mind that not all building sections will fit through a standard doorway or go round sharp corners. Please check site access with us if you are unsure.

If we deliver your building with the intention of erecting it, you must ensure your base is firm and level so that the building can be erected.   If the base is unsuitable and we need to return at a later date there will be a return call-out fee charged.

Any shortages or damages MUST be reported to us within 7 days from date of delivery. Any claims outside of this time period will not be entertained.

• Is the address on a Tarmac road? 
• Is the road at least two lorry widths wide and can a lorry park within 20ft (6 metres)?
• Are there cars parked on both sides of the street, if so, would this cause a problem for access?
• Are there any height restrictions for the shed panels to go under - gates, archways etc?
• Are there any steps to carry the panels up or down?
• Do the panels need to be carried further than 50ft (15 metres) from the parked lorry?
• Are there any tight bends to carry panels through?
• Does the building need to be carried through your house?

 

If the delivery fails due to inaccurate customer details or the buyer fails to take delivery, Shed Scene reserve the right to charge reasonable cost of storage and re-delivery once the reason for the initial failure has been rectified. 

PLEASE NOTE, DELIVERY ONLY APPLIES TO BUILDINGS.  OTHER ITEMS, SUCH AS TINS OF TREATMENT ARE FOR COLLECTION ONLY.

If you cannot take delivery within two months of placing your order we will require notification of this and full payment of the building.

ERECTION & BASE REQUIREMENTS

Unless arranged with us prior to delivery and erection of your building the base is your responsibility. A base for a timber building must be flat. It should be checked with a level, as unfortunately even the most trained eye cannot be accurate enough. The base need not necessarily be any larger than the building size. The space/gap between the new shed and any boundary/hedge/wall needs to be sufficient for maintenance of the building. Your new timber building can be positioned tight to walls, fences and hedges should you prefer, but please allow for Roof overhangs. This will be a minimum of 4”.

PAYMENT

In order to proceed with an order we require payment to the value of the building ordered. This payment is non-refundable. The remaining balance i.e. treatment, erection, frame etc., is payable upon delivery/erection of the building. Cash, Cheques and most major Credit & Debit Cards are accepted. We also accept Online Bacs payments.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

We do not accept liability for personal injury claims whilst our staff are on-site. Please keep at a safe distance whilst they are constructing your building to ensure that you are not injured by way of falling panels, nails, glass etc. This is for your own safety.

PHOTOGRAPHS

We may take photographs of your building to use in our catalogue or for promotional advertising such as social media etc with permission.
