Please read the instructions completely before attempting to assemble the building. The instructions are intended as a rough guide only and details may vary due to the variety of sizes available.
1. The Floor of the building should be laid on a firm but level base. It is recommended that Bearers are used to ventilate and prolong life of floor. (Bearers are and optional extra).
2. Select the back Gable panel and position on rear of floor, ensuring cladding overlap on bottom of the panel sits against the outside edge of the floor and the framing sits on the floor.
3. Select one of the plain side panels, position on floor in the same way as the back panel. (The cladding of the side panel is flush with the vertical framework where as the cladding on the back gable overlaps the vertical framing on both ends). Place the side and back panel together so that the back gable overlapping cladding sits across the end of the framework of the side.
4. With a 6mm drill bit, drill pilot holes, top, middle and bottom of THE BACK GABLE END FRAMING only. Insert a Hex-Head Coach Screw into the pilot holes and lightly tap with a hammer to enable coach screw to bite. Holding gable and side panel together tighten coach screws.
5. Repeat points 3 & 4 with remaining plain side and front door gable.
6. When all 4 sides are screwed together, the roof sections can be fitted.
7. The roof sections are placed so that the edge where the roof cladding is flush with the framing, sits at eaves level, where as the edge where the cladding overlaps the framing sits at the ridge/apex of the gables.
8. At each end in turn, pull both roof sections together towards the ridge, so that they are touching and also flush on front edge. Nail a short galvanised nail into each roof section to hold in place. (The nails should be nailed through the roof cladding into the top sloping framed edges of the gable). Repeat this on the opposite gable.
9. Nail in 5 – 6 nails down each slope of each roof section on both ends. Nail through roof cladding on long sides, into uppermost framing of each side every 5” – 6”.
10. Each outside corner now needs to have corner fillets fitted. Place a fillet in each corner and nail approximately 12” – 18” apart.
11. When roof sections are fitted, the building can be felted. Measure length of roof, front to back, allowing for 2½” – 3” over each end.
12. From the roll of felt provided, cut lengths/strips of felt from the roll. (Enough felt will be provided to cut required quantity of lengths/strips).
13. Roll out lengths/strips of felt from front to back, grit side up. Ensure you start with lowest sides of roof first.
14. Position felt so that equal amounts are over-lapping front and back. Also allow enough felt to overlap the long sides of the roof section. (The overlap of felt on each end and long sides need to be allowed for so that all edges are covered by folding felt over them, thus covering roof completely). Tack one end with felt nail. Carefully pull felt from opposite end to flatten and tack in felt nail to hold in place.
15. Repeat point 13 for the other low side of the building.
16. Depending on the width of the building, 1 or more ridge strips of felt are required. In either case make sure the felt covers the ridge and overlaps the uppermost edge of the lower strips of felt.
17. When ridge felt is in position nail every 3” – 4” along seam/overlap, 1” from seam edge, on both sides. On the outside edges fold felt over edge and secure with felt nails provided, every 4” – 5”.
18. Fitting Barge Boards & Diamonds. Fold felt over end section. Fold/snip corners to allow barge boards to cover and hold in place. Each end of the building has two barge boards and 1 diamond. They are provided for two reasons, to hold felt down over each end and to finish gables. Offer up each barge board so that each board lies flush with the slope of each roof side. Nail into ends of roof framing at low side and ridge. Repeat for each of the barge boards. Nail a diamond on each end at the ridge.
19. Glazing. Glass and Beading is provided for windows and doors. Each piece of glass will require 2 short and 2 long strips of beading. Place glass in window aperture and pin beading to door/window frame. You may wish to apply a sealant between the window frame and building frame first to help prevent ingress of water and seal around glass.
20. Finally, secure all 4 walls to floor by nailing through corner framing of all 4 walls into floor runners.
