Please read the instructions completely before attempting to assemble the building. The instructions are intended as a rough guide only and details may vary due to the variety of sizes available.
1. Lay the floor (A) in its desired position (remember to leave enough space around the building for roof overhang and maintenance). It is essential the floor is on a solid level base otherwise the building will not fit together properly and the doors may not fit flush. Join the floor by nailing into the joining blocks with 40mm nails. Arrange the panels around the floor; it will help you understand how they fit together.
2. Position a plain gable (E) at one end of the floor (the cladding on the bottom overhangs the floor). While your assistant holds the gable place a plain side (C) on the floor to form a corner. Check that the panels are butted together and are sitting flat on the floor, then screw them together from the inside using two of the 100mm coach-screws provided.
3. The Carlton has separate gable tops (triangular sections); nail the gable tops to the gables.
4. Position the second plain side (C) on the floor and bolt to the first plain side using two of the coach bolts provided.
5. Place the other plain gable (E) on the floor and fix to the plain side as before using two 100mm coach-screws, again checking the panels are plat to the floor and butted together.
6. Place a window side (B) on the floor and fix to the plain gable (E) from the inside as before using two 100mm coach-screws.
7. Fix the other window side (B) to the plain gable (E) with two coach screws as previous.
8. Before fitting the door panel (D) remove the keys from the door and check they are unlocked, then attach the handle. Slot the door panel between the two window sides, and bolt together using two coach bolts per side. Fix the top as before.
9. On 4.2m long buildings place the roof truss (R) in the centre of the sides and fix with a 75mm nail each side. Slot the roof purlin (Q) onto the building (it may need trimming to length) so it rests inside each plain gable and on the truss if supplied.
10. Place the roof panels (F) on the building so that the overhang on the cladding meets at the purlin (the smaller framing goes to the outside). Before fixing the roof and floor check that the roofs are sitting flat on the sides and are level at either end, if not it is likely that floor is not level and will need lifting and packing in one corner, try each one in turn until you find the right one.
11. With the roofs square check that the sides and gables are sitting flat on the floor. Nail the sides and gables to the floor using the 100mm nails provided (two nails per panel) ensuring that you nail into a floor joist – follow the lines of nails in the floor to locate the joists. Ensure the walls are not bowing in or out.
12. Nail the roofs to the purlin using 100mm nails, and then nail the roofs to the sides from above using 75mm nails. Ensure the walls are not bowing in. If the building has been supplied without a veranda skip to SECTION 17 and felt the roof.
13. Butt the veranda floor (large framework) up to the main floor and nail together as with main floor, then select an end veranda rail and screw to the main building using tow 75mm coach-screws, repeat with the other end rail.
14. Screw the front veranda rails to the end rails again using two 75mm coach-screws per rail.
15. Place the veranda roof (small framework) on top of the rails, it butts up to the main roof framing at the back and sits flush on top of the rails at the front.
16. Screw the veranda rails to the floor using two 75mm coach-screws per rail again making sure you screw into a floor joist.
17. To fix the veranda roof first check it is sitting square. Screw to the main roof using 65mm coach screws and nail from above through into the veranda rails using 100mm nails.
18. Felt the roof working from the outside upwards. Carefully remove the paper from the felt and roll out flat along the roof so it overhangs at both ends and at least 50mm at the side. Secure with 3-5 nails along the upper edge, then fold the felt over the side of the roof and nail every 150mm into the side of the roof framing working from the centre outwards. Repeat on the other side. For models with a verandah place anther roll of felt on either side of the roof making sure it overhangs the first by at least 100mm, secure with 3-5 nails along the upper edge as before, then nail along the lower edge every 150mm. Place the fifth roll (third on models without verandah) on the back half of the roof just below the apex. Secure with 3-5 nails along the upper edge as before, and then nail along the lower edge every 150mm. Place the final roll on the roof dividing the overlap equally the nail along both edges every 150mm starting from the middle. Fold the felt over the roofs at both ends and nail into the ends of the roof framing.
19. Open the trim pack (L) and identify the fascia boards, nail them to the ends of the roof using 40mm nails then trim the felt if necessary. Nail on the diamond finales using 40mm nails (pre sink the nails on a flat surface so as not to split the diamond).
20. Fix the corner strips (long thin strip) to each outside corner using three 40mm nails per strip. The fix the three wider cover strips to cover the join where the sides join together again using 40mm nails.
21. Glaze the building from the outside using the pre fitted beading in the doors and windows, (we advise you wear gloves when handling glass) you can either use panel pins or silicone sealant to hold the beading in place (not supplied).
